Rosenstock, Gabriel

(1949- )
   Irish poet born in Kilfinane, County Limerick, of an Irish mother and German father. He is the author or translator of over 100 books, mostly in Irish, and his translations include thousands of haiku poems of Japanense into Irish, as well as bhakti poems of India. He works as an assistant editor for the Irish-language publishing house An Gúm. He has given readings of his poetry and haiku in Wales, Scotland, England, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Italy, USA, India, Australia and Japan. Rogha Rosenstock (1994) is a selection from ten volumes of poetry. His children's poetry was published as Dánta Duitse (1998). His most recent collection is Krisnmurphy Ambaist'! (2004). A member of many literary societies and organizations, he has been widely published abroad. He lives in Dublin and is a member of Aosdána.
